Courtney Love Cobain is a prominent figure in the punk and grunge scenes of the 90's. She is known for being a musician, actress, and visual artist. In addition, she also pioneered the fashion trend: kinderwh*re. Kinder is German for child and the wh*re part is for sexuality. Parts of the fashion trend include but are not limited to: short and shabby dresses (baby doll, floral, Peter Pan collar, lace, and nighties), and boots ( Dr.Martens, biker, Mary Janes, etc.) paired with either knee-high socks or fishnets. The fashion trend plays with the contrast of childish and tough.
Nasty Gal is a clothing company that specializes in bringing a modern twist to vintage clothes. So, it was only common sense to bring a modern twist to kinderwh*re. In the first collection. Courtney Love did just that with bringing back fishnets, baby doll and slip dresses, tiaras, chokers, platforms and Mary Janes, and a few lingerie lace pieces.
Since it's release in January 14, 2016, it has become a success. Many of the pieces in this collaboration have gone to be sold out. Due to this, Nasty Gal decided to do yet another collaboration with Courtney Love. Released in November 2016, the second collaboration has some similarities with the first but also some differences.
The second collection features more modern pieces but when Courtney says modern, she means it in a more maximalist way. This means more accessories to add on towards each outfit. Purses, gloves, and earrings are new additions that certainly make the second collaboration noticed.
